AC Tune-Up in Plymouth & Maple Grove, MN

A spring tune-up is the best way to make sure your air conditioner is ready before the heat arrives. Brinks Heating & Air provides thorough, honest AC tune-ups for homeowners throughout Plymouth, Maple Grove, and the surrounding western Twin Cities suburbs — starting at $99.

Get Your Air Conditioner Ready for Summer with a Professional Tune-Up

An AC tune-up won’t make a failing system last forever — but it will catch small problems before they become expensive ones, confirm your system is running as efficiently as it should, and give you the confidence that your AC is ready when you need it. At Brinks Heating & Air, tune-ups are thorough and honest. I inspect everything, tell you exactly what I find, and let you decide how to proceed. No pressure, no unnecessary repairs, no surprises

Brinks’ AC tune-ups take approximately one hour and cover everything from the condenser coil and refrigerant levels to the blower motor, drain line, and electrical connections. If something needs attention, I’ll tell you clearly — what it is, what it will cost to address, and how urgent it is. If everything looks good, I’ll tell you that too.

What’s Included in a Brinks AC Tune-Up

Every AC tune-up from Brinks Heating & Air includes a thorough 13-point inspection of your system’s key components. Here’s what’s included:

Cooling Performance Check

I verify your system is achieving the correct temperature drop and make adjustments as needed. If something isn’t performing the way it should, I find it here.

Refrigerant Leak Inspection

I check for refrigerant leaks. Low refrigerant affects performance and can damage your compressor if left unaddressed.

Condenser Coil Cleaning

I clean the outdoor condenser coil and clear any debris from around the unit. A dirty coil makes your system work harder than it needs to.

Evaporator Coil Inspection

I inspect the indoor evaporator coil, where accessible, for dirt buildup or signs of problems.

Condenser Fan Motor Inspection & Lubrication

I inspect the fan motor for wear and lubricate moving parts to keep everything running smoothly.

Condensate Drain Flush

I flush the condensate drain line to prevent clogs that can cause water damage or system shutdowns.

Compressor Amperage Test

I check compressor amperage to confirm it’s operating within the correct range — an early indicator of bigger problems if it isn’t.

Blower Assembly Inspection & Lubrication

I inspect the blower assembly for proper operation and lubricate and adjust as necessary.

Contactor Inspection

I test and inspect the compressor contactor for proper operation and signs of wear.

Air Filter & IAQ Accessory Evaluation

I evaluate the condition of your air filter and any indoor air quality accessories installed on your system.

Electrical Connection Inspection & Tightening

Loose electrical connections are a common cause of system failures. I inspect and tighten every connection.

Safety Controls Test

I test all safety controls to confirm they’re functioning correctly. These exist for a reason — I make sure they work.

Capacitor & Relay Inspection

I inspect start and run capacitors and relays — components that fail more often than most homeowners realize and are inexpensive to address early.

Before I leave, I’ll give you a straightforward assessment of your system’s condition and flag anything worth keeping an eye on — no upsells, just useful information.

Not All AC Tune-Ups Are Equal

You’ve probably seen $49 AC tune-up offers from other companies. Before you book one, it’s worth understanding what you’re actually getting. A tune-up priced that low typically covers the basics — a quick visual inspection, maybe a filter check — and is often designed to get a technician in your home to find reasons to upsell repairs or a new system.

A thorough tune-up takes time. It means cleaning the condenser coil properly, testing the capacitor, checking refrigerant levels, inspecting the blower motor, flushing the drain line, and going through the electrical connections carefully. That’s not a 20-minute job. Our tune-up is priced to reflect the actual work involved — and you’ll get a complete, honest inspection that gives you a real picture of your system’s health.

When Should You Schedule Your Furnace Tune-Up?

The Best Time Is
Late April or May

Spring is the ideal window for an AC tune-up. Your system has been sitting idle through the winter, and a tune-up before cooling season starts gives you time to address anything that needs attention before you actually need your AC. Late April and May hit the sweet spot — warm enough that your system can be properly tested, early enough that any issues can be resolved without urgency.

Don’t Wait Until
the Heat Arrives

Once temperatures climb in June, priority shifts toward repair and replacement calls for systems that have already failed. Tune-up appointments get pushed back. If you wait until it’s hot to schedule a tune-up, you may find yourself waiting longer than you’d like — or skipping it altogether. Scheduling in April or early May takes that pressure off completely.

What to Expect When You Schedule with Brinks

1

Schedule Your Tune-Up — Call us or fill out the form on this page and we’ll get you on the schedule. April and early May appointments fill up — the earlier you book, the more flexibility you’ll have on timing.

2

Thorough System Inspection — I will arrive at the scheduled time and work through a complete inspection of your system. The visit takes approximately one hour. I don’t cut corners because I’m busy — every tune-up gets the same thorough attention.

3

I Tell You Exactly What I Found — When the inspection is complete, I’ll walk you through what I found — what’s in good shape, what needs attention, and what can wait. You’ll have everything you need to make an informed decision, with no pressure to act on anything that isn’t urgent.

I Hear This a Lot

AC Tune-Up — Questions & Answers

Once a year is the standard recommendation — and spring is the right time to do it. An annual tune-up keeps your system running efficiently, helps catch small problems early, and extends the overall life of your equipment.

Approximately one hour for most systems. I don’t rush through it — a thorough inspection takes time, and that’s what you’re paying for.

A tune-up is preventive maintenance — I inspect your system, clean key components, and identify anything that may need attention before it becomes a problem. A repair addresses something that’s already broken or failing. Sometimes a tune-up uncovers an issue that leads to a repair conversation, but the two are separate services and we’ll always be clear about the difference.

No. If I find something during your tune-up that needs attention, I’ll tell you what it is, what it will cost to fix, and how urgent it is — and then let you decide. If everything looks good, I’ll tell you that too. I’m not in the business of manufacturing problems that don’t exist.
